Salary Tax Breakdown

The £12,570 fixed personal allowance is exempt from tax. Income over £12,571 and up to £50,270 is taxed at 20%, while salary between £50,271 and £125,140 is taxed at 40%. Any income over £125,140 is taxed at a rate of 45%. Read more about UK tax breakdown for the year 2024-25.

NI Contribution

If gross income is less than £12,570 per year, you are exempt from tax and National Insurance contributions. Assuming you earn between £12,570 and £50,270 per year, an 8% charge applies, rising to 10% before April 2024 and 12% before that. If income is more than £50,270 per year, a 2% charge applies.
